Comprehend the material not simply memorize
The question paper (QP) will contain questions covering the material from the prescribed text book. There are two sample question papers at the back of the book. More samples are provided in our website (under Exam Info Page).
Although DLP will try to add more sample question papers along with suggested answers, students must remember that the way questions are asked will be varied, thereby testing the student's comprehension of the material rather than simply memorizing the answers.
QP - Topic Arrangement
We have organized the question paper into the grammar (व्याकरणम्) portion and language (भाषा) portion. Starting NOV2021, we would expect at least 50% score in each part, while the combined score would be 60% to PASS the exam. Please note that this arrangement is not to be mistaken for the split syllabus.
QP - Question types and Instructions
Please see below a few possible ways in which questions could come up based on the study material (the DLP books) (Pravesha material illustrated)

| 1. Answer as complete sentences. (Answer the questions in संस्कृतम् as complete sentences | Requesting answers to be given as complete sentences allows the student to showcase their (his/ her) knowledge of विभक्ति-conformance of the words within the sentence. It also allows us to see the student exercising their knowledge of अनुस्वारः & मकारलेखनम्. |
| 2. Answer in Samskritam unless otherwise specified. (Unless otherwise instructed, please answer in संस्कृतम्) | As this is a Samskrita-exam, providing answers in English does not serve the purpose |

Match the following and rewrite the Samskrita-sentences in English sentence order | In addition to addressing the comprehension of the Samskritam sentence and matching it to the corresponding English sentence, this exercise allows us to test the capability of the student’s attention to the actual अक्षराणि and पदानि that they see, and copying it accurately, paying attention to the ह्रस्व-दीर्घ-अल्पप्राण-महाप्रा |
| 4. Explain with reference to context | Students demonstrate comprehensive flow of sentences based on a given कथा that they have already studied. This showcases the ability of the student to ‘hold a thought’ and make a few sentences related to that thought. It is a very important part of expressing in Samskritam. |

Here are some samples of actual questions - a given topic, and possible ways in which the questions could be asked.

Format 2 - Fill in the blanks -

Answer any 2 sets of questions in संस्कृतम् as complete sentences (One set shown below.)
